Department of Community Medicine

The Department of Community Medicine started as a clinical department at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo in 1998. The Department offers clinical and community health care services, training of health care providers and public health research. The Department trains 200 and 300 Level medical students at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso as part of their pre-clinical studies. It also offers training in Community Medicine to medical students on clinical postings at the Teaching Hospital in Osogbo. Resident doctors and different cadres of health care workers including nurses and community health workers are also trained by this Department. Units under the Department of Community Medicine are:

Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
Treatment of Tropical Diseases and Research (TDR) Diseases such as Schistosomiasis, Onchocerciasis and Guinea-worm.
Treatment of endemic diseases.
Health Education.
Ante-natal Care (ANC).
Delivery Services.
Laboratory Services.
Community Health care services to rural dwellers.
Treatment of endemic diseases.
Training of medical students.
Training of residents doctors.
