The General Out-Patient Department is the first point of call for any patient coming into the hospital for medical attention,(GOPD). The first thing to do on getting to the GOPD is to visit the Medical Records Office where a case note will be opened for the patient.
Once a case note is opened it is taken to the Nurses' Desk where patient's vital signs will be taken and recorded in the patient's file. Subsequently, the case note will be given to a doctor who will attend to the patient. Where an expert knowledge is required, such a patient will be referred to the appropriate department. Also the GOPD Clinic runs between 8am and 12noon everyday while call duties begin by 4p.m.
In cases of emergencies, the Accident and Emergency (A & E) and Children Emergency Unit (CEU) are opened 24/7. On arriving at the A & E or CEU, as the case may be, the respective patients' relatives will be directed to the Medical Records Office where a folder will be opened for the patient.
Each procedure may require payment of prescribed fees. All payments are done in designated banks and/or cash points within the hospital premises. All payment must be receipted which should be produced on demand at service points.
For enquiries, the hospital has a complaint and/or information section known as Patient Information and Complaints Centre (SERVICOM Office) where enquiries are made. It is part of Public Relations Department. Officers in the section ensure that patients are served right. Enquiries can also be made from office of the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).
