Works and Services Department

Sub Units in this Department are:

The Electrical Unit deals with distribution and transmission of electrical power within the hospital. It maintains the fleet of generators and carries out repair and maintenance of electrical appliances & related equipment.

The Civil Engineering Unit handles repairs & maintenance of Building Facilities within the hospital.

Mechanical Unit handles repair & maintenance of mechanical facilities like water storage and distribution systems like boreholes, air-conditioners, the mortuary morgue, the laundry equipment and other mechanical devices within the Hospital. The Mechanical and Electrical Units oversee the gas production Facilities.

Other functions like design and supervision of building facilities being undertaken by the hospital are supervised by Works and Services Department.

Environmental Unit deals with cleaning, fumigation and gardening of the hospital environment.

Notable Achievements are:

Most of the buildings of the Hospitals were designed and supervised by the Works and Services Department. The Administrative block, mortuary, Blood bank, 200-bedded ward, Children Ward, House Officers Residence, A & E and the Extension, the newly constructed Pharmacy/Endoscopic/Amenity Building, the on-going construction of laboratory building, the Consultant Clinics building, Gate & Gate House are some of the notable projects supervised by the Works and Maintenance Department. others are design and supervision of elevated storage water system in front of the mortuary Unit.

Staff Strength

The staff Strength is presently 94 with six (6) registered engineers in their various fields of engineering.
